6/15/87 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

Month: May, 1987 I

Catawba Unit 1 began the month at 100% power. On 5/22 at 0212, the unit was taken off line to repair a reactor coolant system leak. The unit was returned to service on 5/24 at 1745, and increased power to 20% where it was held to repair steam generator "1B" containment isolation valve.

Power increase was held up three times on 5/26, twice for nuclear instrumentation recalibration,!

and once due to a spurious opening of a feedwater pump recirculation valve. The unit then returned to 100% power where it operated for the remainder of the month.
