SUBJECT:

INITIAI. TEST PROGRAM - BYRON 2, BRAIDWOOD 1 AND 2 By letter dated June 23, 1986, you requested that one Startup Test be modified and that five Startup Tests be eliminated in the Startup Test Program for Byron 2 and Braidwood I and 2. Enclosure 1 is our safety evaluation which concludes that the modification to rod drop measurements test and the elimination of pseudo rod ejection test, flux asymmetry evaluation test, and turbine trip from 25% power test are acceptable. However, the elimination of shutdown from outside control room test and loss of offsite power test is not acceptable; these two tests should be done on all three units.

Enclosure 2 is a request for additional information based on changes made in FSAR Amendment 47. Please provide response to these questions within 30 days of the date of this letter.
