Subject: PILGRIM - US NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION MEETING (50-293/87-23)
This letter transmits a report of a Pilgrim-US Nuclear Regulatory Commission
meeting held at our NRC regional office, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania on
May 1, 1987. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss Violation 8 concerning
the adequacy of the surveillance test program procedurer. identified in NRC
Inspection 50-293/87-04. This meeting had been requested by your letter dated
April
9,
1987, (BECo Letter No. 87-56).
NRC Region I staff agreed in a
telephone conversation with Boston Edison conducted on April 22, 1987, to the
postponement of your response to Violation B until af ter the meeting was held.
We believe the results of this meeting were constructive. As we discussed in
the meeting, we now expect a written response to the violation reflecting
either agreement or disagreement.
This letter should also docu:nant actions
planned or taken to iraprove administrative controls of your test programs.
