DOCKET NO: 50-369 UNIT: McGuire 1 DATE: 11/14/86 NARRATIVE
SUMMARY
Month:
October 1986 McGuire Unit 1 began the month at 100% power. A string of feedwater heaters were out of service which caused-a reduction in efficiency. The heaters were placed back in service on 10/05 and the efficiency increased. The unit remained at 100% until 10/15 when load was reduced to 97%. An instrument problem indicated that the Quadrant Power Tilt Ratio (QPTR) technical specification.
had been exceeded. The problem was corrected and the unit returned to 100%
within an hour. The unit remained at 100% until 10/21 when a run back to 55%
power occurred. The run back was caused by a burned contact on a relay. The unit returned to 100% that evening. On 10/29 the unit was forced off line by a safety question concerning Rotork valves. The unit remained off line for the rest of the month.
