OWFN Limited Survev of the Facade Panels Please note the following information regarding our summary of your report:

EUMMARY of WJE " Limited Survey of the Facade Panels"- Dec 1998 Pace 1 Marble and Granite Veneer Panels issue No.1 Marble Bowing / Sugaring & Recommendation:

Lab analysis of marble to determine strength loss.

Is the condition of the marble so poor that testing of this type is required?

After the remaining service life of the marble has been determined, what is the next step?  ;

What type of companies perform this type of work? l What is an estimated cost (or unit cost) for this type of analysis?  !

Issue No. 2 Cracked /Debonded Marble and Granite Veneer Panels & Recommendation:

Follow up survey and use of epoxy and steel pins.

Since this side of the building seems to have more problems than the other sides how often should we perform follow-up surveys for the south elevation?

Paae 2 -Precast Facade Panels '

issue No.1 Precast Concrete Panel Bowing / Displacement & Recommendation:

Additional investigation of methods and materials use during f abrication and field testing to determine strength of veneer anchors.

This was done by RRJ during the previous survey (page 9 item #3 WJE 12/14/99 report). Are you suggesting the same tests or different tests that were not utilized by RRJ7 Paae 3 - Sealant issue No. 2 Sealant Failure at glass Lite Perimeters and Frame Connections & j Recommendation:

Sealant at Glass lights / frames - Determine amount of leakage through field test, removal and replacement of sealant using appropriate preparation of painted frame.

Are field tests necessary?

Should we replace the sealant with the proper material and method of application without water i

test?

Paae 3 - Miscellaneous issue No. 2 Glass Lite Replacement at Main Entrance Canopy & Recommendation:

Second sentence should read "This is cause for some concern due to related safety issues."

Pace 10 - Stainless Steel Anchor Straos First paragraph - Change this paragraph to reflect the fact that these anchor otraps were used at one time and that method was abandoned by the NRC.

Paae 11 - Sealant This paragraph should pertain to sealant not panel fabrication and erection.

Paae 20 - Broken Glass The last sentence of the paragraph should read" The cause of the breakage appears to be impact related, perhaps the result of stone (s) f alling from the roof."

Paae 22- Marble / Granite Panel Soallina Do theses various spalls affect the integrity of the panels regardless of the cause of the spall?

Paae 22 - Precast Panel Bowina What is involved in a more in-depth investigation of this issue?
