SUMMARY
Month:
December 1986 Catawba Unit 1 began the month at 95% power due to problems encountered while testing a Turbine Control valve. Power was further reduced to 85%
on December 1, 1986, when an indication of low flow in the Reactor Coolant System was received. On December 2, a power hold was initiated to repair a valve in the Blowdown System and on December 3, power was held at 98%
1 for Nuclear Instrument calibrations. The unit returned to 100% on December 3, and operated at that level until December 9, when power was reduced due to vibration on the "A" Feedwater pump turbine. The unit returned to 100% the same day. Power was reduced to 65% on December 29, to make repairs.to the "B" Feedwater pump turbine. After the repairs, the unit increased power to 100% and remained at that level for the remainder of the month.

1/15/87 NARRATIVE SU19fARY Month:
December 1986 Catawba Unit 2 began the month at 95% due to low system generation requirements.
On December 5, 1986, the unit had a runback due to an instrumentation problem, but returned to 100% the same day. On December 9, the unit reduced power to 20% to repair two feedwate valves. The repairs were completed on December 9, but the unit was forced to hold power due to a Quadrant Power Tilt in the cors and for incore/Excore calibrations. The unit was back at 100% on December 12.
On December 18, power was reduced when an Emergency Boration occurred due to Positive Reactivity. The unit returned to 100% the same day and remained at that level for the remainder.of the month.
