Catawba Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 - Transmittal of a Draft Safety Evaluation Report on Generic Letter 83-28, Items 4.1, 4.2.1 and 4.2.2.
By letter dated June 24, 1985, you responded to Generic Letter 83-28, items 4.1, 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 regarding the preventative maintenance program for reactor trip breakers / maintenance and trending. The enclosed draft safety evaluation report was prepared by the NRC staff based upon input from our contractor, Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, after having reviewed your responses.
The draft SER concludes that for item 4.1 your response is acceptable, how-ever, for items 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 your responses did not meet the staff's criteria and therefore were unacceptable.
Please provide the additional information requested in the enclosed draft SER within 60 days of the date of this letter. Should you have questions regarding the enclosure or be unable to meet the requested response date, contact the Project Manager, Kahtan Jabbour, at (301) 492-7367.
