CONFIRMATION OF ACTION LETTER (CAL-413/86-01, CAL-414/85-01) DATED JULY 3, 1986 We appreciate your timely cooperation in the resolution of the items agreed to in our letter to you of July 3,1986, confirming your short-term and long-term actions. Our resident inspectors have reviewed your actions and found them to be acceptable and completed.
These reviews are documented in inspection reports 413/86-27, 414/86-30, 413/86-36, and 414/86-39.
Also, we have received your letter of September 22, 1986, in which you concluded that it would be appropriate to delete the referenced instructions from your procedures for remote manual operation of the Annulus Ventilation System, Containment Spray System, and Auxiliary Building Ventilation.
We concur with this interim action during the period of continuing NRC/ Duke review of the appropriate design basis for your Auxiliary Shutdown Panels (ASP).
NRR review of the design requirements for the ASP is scheduled for completion the end of October 1986 and Region II/NRR plan to meet with your staff to review this matter the first part of November 1986. We will complete plans for this meeting with your staff by October 24, 1986.
