.0F OPERATING. EXPERIENCE UNIT THREE DECEMBER, 1986 12-01-86 to 12-09-86 Unit 3 entered the month operating at a power level of 012MWe and maximum core flow. Load was reduced for testing of both recirculation pumps in single loop operation, which was completed satisfactorily, and the unit ramped up to full power. An Unusual Event was declared because the amp brand electrical splices in the drywell were not environmentally quali-fied. The turbine was manually tripped off-line at 0311 hours0.0036 days <br />0.0864 hours <br />5.142196e-4 weeks <br />1.183355e-4 months <br /> of December 6, 1986 and the reactor was made subcritical at 0950 hours0.011 days <br />0.264 hours <br />0.00157 weeks <br />3.61475e-4 months <br /> of the same day.
After repairs were effected, the reactor was made critical at 0550 hours0.00637 days <br />0.153 hours <br />9.093915e-4 weeks <br />2.09275e-4 months <br /> of December 9, 1986 and the turbine was brought on-line at 1742 hours0.0202 days <br />0.484 hours <br />0.00288 weeks <br />6.62831e-4 months <br /> of the same day.
12-10-86 to 12-13-86 After low power surveillances were completed, load was steadily increased until December 11, 1986 at 1435 hours0.0166 days <br />0.399 hours <br />0.00237 weeks <br />5.460175e-4 months <br /> when an' automatic turbine trip and high flux reactor scram occurred while cycling the #2 turbine stop valve to troubleshoot a failure of the fast closure solenoid. The #2 turbine stop valve had a carbonized contact which caused the stop valve logic system to close all of-the stop valves. The reactor scrammed on turbine stop valve closure.
After repair of the limit switches the reactor was made critical at 0909 hours0.0105 days <br />0.253 hours <br />0.0015 weeks <br />3.458745e-4 months <br /> of December 12, 1986 and the Turbine was brought on line December 13, 1986 at 1012 hours0.0117 days <br />0.281 hours <br />0.00167 weeks <br />3.85066e-4 months <br />.
12-14-86 to 12-31-86 The unit operated the remainder of the month, steadily increasing load (except for normal weekend surveillances),
reaching a power level of 812 MWe with an availability of 85.51% and a capacity factor of 70.82%.
