j This letter is in response to the August 12, 1988 letter from Mr. D. B. Matthews, NRC/NRR, which denied a Technical Specification amendment request submitted on

August 9, 1988. Attached is a revision to the previous proposed amendment to the Technical Specifications for Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-35 and NPF-52 f
1 for Catawba Units 1 and 2.
The request involves changing Technical Specification Table 3.3-3 to reflect a proposed change in the actuation logic for the Nuclear i
Service Water System. This modification is now currently scheduled to be 1
implemented in January, 1989.

i It is also requested that the Technical Specification amendment allow a 48 hour5.555556e-4 days <br />0.0133 hours <br />7.936508e-5 weeks <br />1.8264e-5 months <br /> waiver of compliance (per pit) with the Nuclear Service Water Action Statement j
requirements to allow for the implementation of this modification.

and a No Significant liazards Analysis. The analysis is included pursuant to 10 l
1 CFR 50.91 and it has been concluded that the propnsed amendment does not involve j
significant hazards considerations.
4 This proposal involves a previously submitted amendment request to Catawba's i
Technical Specifications. Tharefore, no additional license fees are required.
