Request for AdditionalInformation Application Dated December 1,1997 Seismic Hazard Analysis United States Enrichment Corporation Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant Docket 70-7001 The staff's review determined that Volume 5 of EPRI TR-1022993 is required to complete NRC review of the Paducah Seismic Hazard Analysis. However, the staff understands that this document has limited distribution and is considered by EPRI as licensable material.
Please provide: (1) Volume 5 of the referenced EPRI document, with assurance that this report can be forwarded to NRC's contractual reviewers, or (2) information on the following items.

REl used the relationship between MLg and moment magnitude M, including the effect of stress drop (hybrid approach), in the EPRI report to develop equations 4-4 and 4-5 on page 4-3 of the REl report. Provide detailed information to permit the staff to verify the relationship between MLg and M in the EPRI report, that was used to develop the equations used in the REI report.

Provide detailed information to permit the staff to validate the discussians in Section 4.1 (page 4-3) of the REl report.

REI used two approaches for considering source depth effect (relationship between i
source distance and equivalent point-source distance to account for effect of extended sources). One of these approaches is based on the EPRI approach. Provide detailed information to enable the staff to verify the EPRI approach so that the staff could validate the use of the EPRI approach in the REl report.
