Dear Dr. Sehgal:
In reference to your letter of November 18, 1985, we welcome the opportunity to use the COREXIT facility at ANL for the corium-coolant mixing experiments.
Since you have already reviewed our proposed experiments, we suggest a meeting at EPRI to discuss comments from appropriate EPRI personnel and review the project's technical details. We will invite Dr. B. Spencer to attend the neeting. Would January 30, 1986, be an acceptable date for the meeting?
Regarding the issue of direct containment heating (DCH) loads, we agree with you that appropriate test data are required to resolve the issue. We have just obtained a new large vessel for such testing at SNL. The artist rendition of the facility is enclosed for your information. The vessel is scheduled for delivery on January 6, 1986 and we are planning a meeting to review the experi-mental program in January. February. May we suggest to begin NRC-EPRI coopera-tion by establishing joint research review meetings? EPRI's participation will be most welcome.
Since our budget has been obligated for the current fiscal year, any DCH experiments in the COREXIT facility would have to be planned for future years.
We certainly will keep your suggestions in mind for future planning.
