(Refer to S023-0-44, for further guidance.)

e Validate off-normal conditions, validating off-normal conditions begins with a mind set that the alarm (s) are valid until substantiated by hard data that it is erroneous or a nuisance alarm, e Report problems, reporting the problem begins with isolating and defining the cause for the alarm and ensuring that the control room team is aware of the condition.

e Initiate corrective action, initiating corrective actions begins l with the manipulation of controls to mitigate adverse system {

response. j 6.2 It is essential to Self Check when responding to alarms, misdiagnosed or inappropriate actions can lead to equipment damage, plant trips and degraded plant safety. Knowing how to self-check is important.

KNOWING WHEN TO SELF-CHECK IS JUST AS IMPORTANT. SELF-CHECKING consists of four distinct actions. Remembering the acronym STOP will help)you to be a self-checker: (RefertoS023-0-44, for further guidance.

6.3 When verifying alarm validity, than all available indications and information sources should be used (e.g., Control Board Indications, PMS, CFMS, QSPDS and Local Operator Feedback, etc.).

6.4 When actuation of one or more alarms occurs on an annunciator panel, then assess the impact on plant status, and take corrective action.

6.4.1 Possible actions to aid in either performance of the assessment, or in the determination of appropriate corrective actions are provided in Section 2.0 of each alarm response, under the title of " Corrective Actions."

.1 11 the assessment determines that the Corrective Actions are appropriate, than such actions are required.
