Ultrasonic examination performed on skirt weld using procedure WT-306, Revision 1. Limitations: 0* - None; 45*-20% not examined, configuration; 60*-23% not examined, configuration. Observation - Weld joint design present on pressurizer support skirt (Ref. W dwg. EDSK-379441B, attached) more closely resembles fig. IWB-2500-13 than (Tg. IWB-2500-14. Since later code editions require volumetric or surface (including the surface under the skirt), it is apparent that a relieT is required. Note 4 of Table IWB-2500-1 permits volumetric in lieu of surface only for the configuration shown in IWB-2500-14. DLC performed the volumetric exam with the above noted limitations. Surface examination of the weld surface under the skirt would be impractical due to physical limitations imposed by the skirt design, heater penetrations and insulation support brackets.
