ALTERNATE nrCAY HEAT REMOVAL SYSTEM (ADHRS)

GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION. U.HT 1 i

i The following information is required to assess the structural integrity of ADHRS and the Auxiliary Building during a seismic event:

1.

Floor response spectra at the supports of ADHRS.

2.

Nathematical model of ADHRS, showing location and weight mass points, support and boundary conditions, stiffness and damping characteristics of the system, and geometri,il dimensions.

3.

Method of analysis to calculate dynamic responses to input motion.

Response spectrum method or time history method.

4.

Calculated results including natural frequencies of ADHRS, maximum acceleration at mass points, stresses in components and connections.

5.

Seismic loads imposed on walls, beams and other structural elements of the Auxiliary Building.

The following information is needed for the review of radiation protection aspects of the ADHRS.

1.

Provide the existing radiation zone designation for the low pressure core s) ray (LPCS) pump room and the residual heat removal (RHR) "C" pump room w1ere the ADHRS piping will be installed.

2.

Describe any administrative controls to control access to the LPCS pump room and the RHR "C" pump room when the ADHRS is in operation.

3.

Clarify what is meant by the last sentence on page P.74 which begins "Also, per UFSAR Table 3.11-2, system operating dose is 30 rads /hr,...."

4.

Is 30 rads /hr in the above sentence an error?

5.

Provide the total estimated man-rem for installation of the ADHRS and the estierated yearly dose to plant personnel from operation and maintenance i

of this system.
