Dear Mr. Devine:
. As a followup to our meeting yesterday afternoon with you and Mr. Stokes w,.,concerning.the Diablo Canyon.mattero this is to confirm:our tentative date to
.w c,
continue interviewing, in the San Luis Obispo area, persons represented by GAP, beginning Thursday, April 5, 1984.
Specifics as to time, place, and individuals involved will be worked out between us by telephone conversation later today.
I understand you will f
contact me for this purpose.
i k
I As I believe you are aware from our meeting yesterday, our priorities for these interviews are the following:
1.
We are interested in securing at the earliest possible time all specific information and evidence relating to alleged material false statements which you or the individuals you are representing or coordinating may have.
2.
We are similarly interested in receiving as soon as possible any and all specific information and evidence we have not previously addressed which relates to safe operation of the Diablo Canyon Plant.
Based upon our discussion yesterday, I understand the following:
1.
The interview with Mr. Stokes will be continued at a later time, among other things, to get all the specifics pertinent to a) his allegations of material false statements by the licensee, and, b) any concerns regarding j
I the ability to safely operate the Diablo Canyon Plant.
2.
You and Mr. Stokes will review the transcript of the April 2,1984, meeting in San Francisco between NRC staff and representatives of the licensee, and confirm in writing the specific statements made which are believed to constitute material false statements by the licensee.
3.
The Stokes' " affidavit" appended to your March 23, 1984 letter to the Commissioners is not a sworn statement as its caption would imply, but rather, is an unsworn statement.
4.
While Mr. Stokes declined to provide information under oath during our meeting yesterday, I understand that you and Mr. Stokes will consider the appropriateness of his making a sworn statement concerning the alleged material false statements after you and he have, among other things, 87040g217060402
