, WATER CLEANUP (RWCU) SYSTEM Re: Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit 1 By letter dated February 26, 1985, you submitted your inspection plans for Brunswick, Unit 1 for the outage beginning March 31, 1985. By letter dated

June 14, 1985, you submitted the detailed design report for the inspection and repair work carried out during the November 1984 outage. By letter dated August 16, 1985, you submitted description of the induction heating stress improvement (IHSI), the reactor water cleanup system piping replacement program, the intergranular stress corrosion cracking inspection program, and the weld overlay repairs during the current outage. This

. letter also includes the basis for continued operation of Unit I until

the next refueling outage scheduled to begin in May 1987. By letter dated September 25, 1985, you submitted the detailed design report for the IGSCC i

inspection and repair work conducted during the refueling outage ending in October 1985. You provided a supplemental response, in your letter dated 1

October 10, 1985, based on discussions with the' staff.

We have reviewed the information you have provided and conclude that the improvements, replacement, inspection and repairs perfonned meet the guidelines in our Generic Letter 84-11 and are acceptable. Our detailed Safety Evaluation which provides the basis for this conclusion will be

transmitted under separate cover.
