SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE Docket-No.

50-266 Unit Name Point Beach Unit 1 Date August 6, 1986 Completed By C. W. Krause Telephone 414/277-2001 Unit 1 operated at approximately 500 MWe net throughout the period with one scheduled shutdown for maintenance.

On July 12, l

at 0308 hours0.00356 days
0.0856 hours
5.092593e-4 weeks
1.17194e-4 months
, the unit was taken off line for repairs to the j

lA moisture separator reheater.

The unit was back on line at i

2029 hours0.0235 days
0.564 hours
0.00335 weeks
7.720345e-4 months
that same day.

l Other maintenance during the period included replacing the 1P2A l

charging pump suction bladder and repairs to the steam generator feed pump's shaft driven lube oil pump.

8 LER No.86-004 was issued on July 7, 1986, describing two similar 4

rod misalignment events occurring in June 1986.

In both events, j

control rods K07 and C07 were out of alignment from the bank demand position by greater than the 7.5 inches allowed by Technical Specifications.

Consequently, rod position indications for rods K07 and C07 have been declared inoperable.

Verification of correct position of these rods is being made in accordance i

with Technical Specification requirements and is described in-the LER.

No other LERs were issued during the period, and no significant operating events occurred.
