McGuire 1 DATE: 03 /13/87 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

Month: February, 1987 McGuire Unit 1 began the month at 100% power, but on 2/10 was forced off line by a leak on a Reactor Coolant pump. Maintenance work on the High Pressure Stop Valves of the "A" and "B" Feedpumps was also begun. The unit returned to service on 2/15, but could only increase power to 58% while work was being performed on the "A" Feedpump's Stop Valve. The unit returned to 100% on 2/17, but was forced to reduce power because of Secondary side chemistry limits. On 2/18 the unit tripped after an overcurrent protection circuit on one of the Reactor Coolant pumps failed and caused a ground fault. The circuit was replaced and the unit returned to service on 2/20. The unit operated at 100% for the remainder of the month.
