DocketNo.50-20Y,50-361,50-362 i
Ms. Martha Collison, Mayor City of Laguna Beach 505 Forest Avenue Laguna Beach, CA 92651
Dear Ms. Collison:
This is in response to your Petition of May 27, 1986 filed on behalf of the city of Laguna Beach. The Petition requests that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission expand the approximately ten-mile radius Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station to approximately fifteen miles to include the cities of South Laguna and Laguna Beach.
4 The bases for the relief sought in the Petition are concerns about the lack of emergency planning for Laguna Beach, the topography of the South Orange County coastline as it relates to the transportation network, and the effect on the residents of Laguna Beach as residents to the south drive through the city as part of an evacuation procedure.
In addition, the Petition addresses the recent events in the Soviet Union as a basis for reconsideration of the emergency plan-ning associated with the San Onofre plant.
Your Petition will be considered pursuant to 10 CFR 2.206 of the Commission's regulations and appropriate action will be taken in a reasonable time. A copy of the notice that is being filed for publication with the Office of the Federal l
Register is enclosed for your information.
