Gentlemen:
Enclosed is an addendum to our Inspection Report No. 50-331/85019 transmitted
by our letter dated August 29, 1985. This addendum consists of comparisons of
analyses performed on a split liquid sample collected during the inspection,
and on a spiked liquid sample subsequently submitted to you by the NRC
Reference Laboratory.
Initially for the spiked sample there was a
significant disagreement in the Co-60 values.
From discussions with station
personnel and analysis of the gamma spectra printouts, it appears that the
analysts made some errors in the background corrections. The licensee explained
the cause of the problem and the corrective actions taken to resolve it in a
letter dated February 27, 1986. The corrected value is shown in the enclosed
table. This closes both Open Items 50-331/85019-01 and 50-331/85019-06.
Based on discussions with station personnel and the information provided in
.
your letters dated August 29, 1985, and February 27, 1986, we will review in
a subsequent inspection the following Open Items:
50-331/85019-02 on Kr-85m
analysis, 50-331/85019-03 on Mn-56 analysis, 50-331/85019-04 on technician
training on gamma analysis, and 50-331/85019-05 on As-76 analysis.
