Dear Mr. Denton:
The referenced letter transmitted Revision 4 to the Wolf Creek Generating Station (WCGS)
Inservice Testing (IST)
Program for Pumps and Valves.
Transmitted herewith is Revision 5 of the Wolf Creek IST Program for Pumps and Valves.
The revision contains program enhancements, documents the addition of six relief requests and documents the deletion of eleven previously schnitted relief requests.
The specific changes, along with the basis for each
- change, are listed in Attachment 1.
Revision bars have been added to designate the changes to aid in your review.
'Ihe program continues to meet the requirenents of 10 CFR 50.55a and is written to Section XI of the ASME Boiler and Pr6sure Vessel Code, 1980 Edition through Winter 1981 Addenda.
It provides an effective, improved program which will assure overall safe operation of the plant.
Therefore, KG&E has implemented Revision 5 pending formal NRC acceptance of an IST Program for WCGS.
A copy of the IST Program for Pumps and Valves Revision 5 has been provided to Mr. H. L. Magleby of EG&G Idaho, Inc.

Change: On the cover sheet the typed names of IST Engineer, Operations Coordinator - Projects & Planning and Superintendent of Operations were deleted.
Basis for Change: Unnecessary information.
IT m 2:
Change: On the LIST OF TABLES page and TABLE OF CONTENTS page, page numbers were changed to reflect new revision.
Basis for Change: New revisions added pages to program.
IT m 3:
Change: In the INTRODUCTION section, paragraph three, second sentence, the words " pumps and" were deleted.
Basis for Change: There are no pumps identified as nonclassed (NC).
IT m 4:
Change: In Table 1.1 M-02BM01, M-02EM01, M-02EN01 and M-02KC02 were changed to M-12BM01, M-12EM01, M-12EN01 and M-12KC02.

01ange: RELIEF REQUEST No. PR-7 was deleted.
Basis for Change: ASME Section XI allows for engineering evaluation of pump data and the flexibility to develop new acepetance criteria.
ITEM 11:
Change: The Motor Driven Aux. Feedwater Pumps and the Turbine Driven Aux. Feedwater Pump were deleted from RELIEF REQUEST No. PR-8.
Also, on PR-8 ALTERNATE TESTING was changed to "None".
Basis for Change: Flow rate is now being measured for the Aux.
Feedwater Pumps. There is no alternate testing being performed.
ITEM 12:
Change: On RELIEF REQUEST No. PR-10, under ALTERNATE TESTING, the "30 seconds" was changed to "one minute".
Basis for Change: It has been determined that sufficient time exists to observe / record measured test parameters after the pumps have run for one minute.
ITEM 13:
Change: Added RELIEF REQUEST No. PR-12 to obtain relief from IWP-4120 for vibration measurement.
Basis for Change: Program enhancement.
ITEM 14:
Change: In Section 3.1.2 the " MAX LEAKG:" and associated paragraph were deleted.
Basis for Qiange: Unnecessary information - not required to be a part of the program submittal.
ITEM 15:
Change: In Section 3.1.2, the REMARKS paragraph was changed to indicate that the Remarks Column contains any specific conments for a particular valve including notes.
Basis for Change: The REMARKS column may contain other conments besides notes.

Change: In Section 3.1.3, the third sentence in the STROKE TIME paragraph was deleted.
Basis for Change: In the WCGS IST Program for Pumps and Valves stroke time is measured to the nearest hundredth of a second.
