On December 6. 1997, the NRC completed an inspection at your McGuire Nuclear-

. Station. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

This inspection:was conducted to review the adequacy of an investigation of a- -i

' December 2.1997 event involving seal damage to four air lock doors.at the  !

4 . UnitL2 Cor' ainment . Building. - At the time of the inspection. the~ investigation _  ;

concluded that the seals were intentionally cut by an unidentified

.' individual (s). Other equipment was inspected by the NRC-and site Jersonnel

for evidence.of tampering and none was'found. The NRC concluded tlat the-

ongoing investigation and the response to:the tampering event was adequate.

cited in the enclosed Notice'of Violation (Notice), and the circumstances

, surrounding it are described inJdetail in the subject inspection report.
