I received'a memorandum requesting consideration of an alternative to the proposed NRC response to the V.C. Summer plant's request to modify a SALP report in the plant support area. The SALP report was issued on December 6.1996, and the proposed iHC response was submitted to me for signature on April 16. 1997.

In accordance with Management Directive 10.159. and Regional Office Instruction No. 2304. I established a DPV panel to review the issues ra' ed in the submitter's April 17. memorandum. The panel completed its review and provided me the results in a June 13. 1997, memorandum. I have reviewed the results and I am accepting tiia panel's recommendations, which are in Section VI of the results.

Please review the recommendations and provide me a plan for completing action i

on them. including a schedule, I have included a copy of the panel's results
