Deer Ms. Johnson:

By letter dated April 28,1994, Commonwealth Edison Company submitted the Individual Plant Examination (IPE) for Byron Station, Units 1 and 2, in response to Generic Letter (GL) 88 20, Individual Plant Examinations for Severe Accident Vulnerabilities. A revised submittal was made on March 27,1997.

We, with the assistance of our contractor, Brookhaven Natio.,al Laboratory, have rhewe' botti d

the original and revised submittels and find that the IPE is complete with regard to the o y

information requested by GL 88 20. We therefore conclude that Comed has met th'e Intent oF;,

GL 88-20 for Byron Station.

Please note that our review primarily focused on Comed's ability to examine Byron,iunits j and.
