Dear Mr. Keppler:

i Status of Corrective Actions i

l Corrective actions have continued on the of Phillips, Getschow production 8

radiographs with identified concerns. These actions include repair g

and/or re-radiography, as applicable, to achieve full code compliance.

l Em The current status reflects 72 of the 104 welds complete and a balance of

~W 32 still requiring attention. It should be noted that 18 of the 3

remaining 32 welds will not be accessible for repair and/or M

re-radiography until after January 2, 1986. These welds are associated N

with the Unit 2 Containment Spray System.

i O

Nine production radiographs could not be initially located. Five have Og been re-radiographed and are complete, one has been cut-out with no a.m further action required, and three with corrective actions being tracked ty by Phillips,-Getschow NCRs #5207, #5208 and #5209. Corrective actions M

i are scheduled to be complete by January 2,1986.

NOV 51985

3.,

. A multi-party meeting was conducted at Braiowood on June 11, 1985 on welder qualifications. During this meeting the course of action required for resolution of Phillips, Getschow welder qualifications was determined. Phillips, Getschow NCR #5302 was generated addressing those welder qualifications not dispositioned through the multi-party review.

This NCR is now closed and the Phillips, Getschow welder qualification issue has been resolved.

Commonwealth Edison is still evaluating the actions required to disposition the Power System Inc. welder qualifications. When these actions are determined, they will be included in a subsequent Interim Report.

Reference (c) addressed resolution and completion of G. K. Newberg and Universal Power Piping welder qualifications; no further action is required.

The balance of corrective actions required to resolve this concern are:

1.

Complete repair and/or re-radiography of the remaining 32 production welds.

2.

Close-out of Phillips, Getschow NCRs #5207, #5208 and #5209.

3.

Determine actions required to resolve Power Systems Inc. welder qualifications and implement corrective actions.

A completion date for the above corrective actions depends on gaining access to the Unit 2 Containment Spray welds. A status report will be submitted when substantial progress is made on the remaining welds.

Please adaress any questions that you or your staff may have concerning this matter to this office.

Very truly yours,

/
