Reference Revised Schedule for Completion of Responses to the NRC Request for Additional Information Regarding the TranStor Storage Cask and Shipping System, BFS/NRC 98-020, October 15,1998.
Dear Sir,
In the referenced letter, BFS committed to complete its review of the 10CFR Part 71 TranStor license application and related responses to the NRC Requests for Additional Information (RAI) by December 23,1998. On December 10,1998, BFS notified the NRC Project Manager, Mr. Tim Kobetz, that the completion of the Part 71 review will be rescheduled. BFS will provide the NRC with the revised submittal date in writing by December 31,1998.
It is our intent to provide the staff with an application which satisSes not only the BFS quality requirements, but also the published July 1998 NRC guidelines relative to the composition and content of a complete application. Toward this end, BFS continues to D
devote significant efforts to the completion of the Part 71 review. However, resources have recently been prioritized to support the following:

. The Portland General Electric Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation license application.
- The VSC-24 license amendment request for the storage of Burnable Poison Rod Assemblies at Arkansa.; Nuclear One (ANO).
The addressing of VSC-24 issues identified in the NRC letter dated October 16,1998.

' Docket Nos. 71-9268 Additionally, BFS has recently completed its license application and RAI response submittal for the TranStor Part 72 Storage Cask System. Lessons learned from this effort have contributed to this re-assessment of the completion schedule for the Part 71 submittal.
