Dear Mr. Farrar:

Subject:

Preimplementation Audit of the La Salle County Station Detailed Control Room Design Review The NRC staff and its consultants, Science Application's International Corporation, plan to conduct a preimplementation audit of the detailed control room design review (DCRDR) at your La Salle County Station.

The purpose of the audit will be to evaluate the organization, process and results of the DCRDR.

Preliminary discussions have been held with C. Allen, of your staff, with respect to time and some of the pertinent information that the staff will be looking for.

The audit is planned for June 3 to June 6, 1986.

The.following is asked to be available at the time of the DCRDR:

1.

Review team personnel (including contractors) knowledgeable in each of the DCRDR tasks should be available to discuss the review process and to respond to staff questions during the audit.

2.

Documentation of the DCRDR organization, process, and results to date should be available.

3.

Conference or office space should be available for the NRC staff's meeting with CECO and for the staff and its consultants to meet privately.

4.

Access to the control room, the remote shutdown facilities, and the control room simulator should be provided as necessary.

5.

Clearance to bring camera equipment on site and to take photographs in the control room, at the remote shutdown facilities, and other areas that would assist in evaluating the DCRDR and SPDS should be provided.

Attached are a list of the audit team with some notes and a tentative audit agenda which is provided for your planning purposes.
