Dear Mr. Edwards:
By letter dated May 5,1997, as supplemented by letters dated August 22 and September 26, 1997, PECO Energy Company applied for amendments to Facility Operating License Nos.
DPR-44 and DPR-56 for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, Units 2 and 3. The proposed change would have involved an unreviewed safety question (USQ) and modified the facility, as described in the Updated Final Safety Analysis Report, by replacing the suction strainers for emergency core cooling system. Subsequently, by letter dated December 11,1998, the licensee withdrew the amendment request.
The Commission has filed the enclosed Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Amendments to Facility Operating Licenses with the Office of the Federal Register for publication. The associated TAC Nos. M98684 and M98685 are being closed.
