  • Docket Number: 50-275 TACS Number: 54435 NSSS Epplier: Westinghouse Licensing Stage: OR Responsible Branch: LB #3 Project Manager: Hans Schierling Review Status: Incmpl ete i The Core Perfomance Branch has reviewed the licensee's April 27, 1983 response to the NRC Deceber 10, 1982 Generic Letter No. 82-28, " Inadequate Co e Cooling Instrumentation (ICCI) System," and has found that the licensee's proposed approach to the Westinghouse Reactor Vessel Level Instrumentation System (RVLIS) is acceptable. However, our implementation review is incomplete. We will
require the licensee to provide the implementation letter report described in Enclosure 2 in order that the staff can complete its impler.entation review of 1

the installed RVLIS.

The enclosed SER including input from ICSB and ORNL presents the results of our review. The SER also identifies some concerns relating to the proposed ICCI System, and requests additional infor.r.ation relative to confor,ance of same cmponents of the ICCI systs to NUREG-0737 design requirccents.

Please forward the enclosed evaluation report to the licensee and request that Pacific Gas and Electric Company initiate necessary actions to implement its ICCI system and that a schedule for additional sub-ittals, including respr.nse to Enclosures 1 and 2, t>e provided within 30 days.
