SURVEY PINDINGS CA TEC!!FOLCCIES PNASE TV nFC0!OtiX510NING Dear Mr. Rouses AL Lhu 6 gveet of the NRC negies V of ficu, Ouk Ridga Acconiated Universities' performed a confirmatory survey of Phase IV decommissioning activities at CA Technologies, Inc. in San Diego, Ca11tornia, curing Juna MU-4), 1966. Phase IT decommissioning consisted of 12 laboratories in Building 2, Areaa 51, and Area B3 (Callan Ponds).
The survey included alpha, beta-gaana, and gamme peanat exposure rate measurementui measuremente of total and removable surf ace The contamination; and muuuurument of radionuclide concentrations in coil.
survey identified seversi small areas of residual contesination in laboratory rooms, which Wara remediated and rumuevvyud by ORAU. Other s.easureadte end osaploo woro within octablichod guidelines.
Based on these results it fa ORAU's opinion that the decontamination utforte by the licensee have been ef fective in meeting the radiological conditions estabi!shed for release of this site for unrestricted use.
A complete report un this uvutirmatory survey is in preparation and will be provided to your office within several weeks.
