This letter refers to the special s nfety iMpection conducted by Dr. Walter J. I

Pasciak and Mr. James Kottan of this office on August I M O, 1938, at the

j Pilgrim Nucle v Power Station, Plymouth, Massachusetts, of activities i

j authorized by NRC License No. OPR-35 and to the discussions of our findings

held by Dr. Pasciak,with you at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the GRC Region ! I

Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. We are concerned that  :

measures taken to protect the onsite contaminated dirt storagc pile may not be  ;

adequate to prevent potential rain and wind erosis.t. We request that you  :

respond to us in writing and outline corrective steps which will be taken to

a protect the contaminated dirt from wind and rain erosion and when these  ;

j corrections will be in place.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
