On June 5,1997, representatives from NEU met with Commissioner Dicus and other NRC staff. The following items were key topics of discussion:

.. The mapr item diacussed involved an update to the status of the' Millstone Restart efforts. NEU has submitted some detailed information that provides support for their status report to the Commission during the last briefing.

NEU indicated that they met their first major milestone in notifying the NRC that Unit 3 was ready for the ICAVP to commence. NEU indicated a great deal of surprise and pleast..e that the NF3C staff had responded with the identification of  :

two systems for extensive inspection two days later.

L. - Commissioner Dicus expressed some concern for middle management buy-in of the new regime.

NEU indicated that the leadership is looking at the weakest links, manager are i train in a two-week leadership program, and that employee assessments should  !

identify individuals who are having difficulty meeting the "new standard." '

NEU has established a Millstone Advisory Group that will meet to discuss restart l program status and issues every three weeks. This groups first meeting was scheduled for June 6,1997.
