Subject: Combined Inspection Nos. 50-317/87-28 and 50-318/87-29
This refers to the routine safeguards inspection conducted by Messrs.
R. J. Bailey and W.
F., Lancaster of this office on December 15-18, 1987 at
Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2, Lusby, Maryland of
activities authorized by NRC License Nos. DRP-53 and DPR-69 and to the
discussions of our findings held by Mr. Bailey with Mr. L. Gibts at the
conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region !
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Nithin these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
A section of the enclosed inspection report contains details of your security
program that have been determined to be exempt from public disclosure in
accordance with 10 CFR 73.21 (Safeguards Information).
Therefore, that section

will not be placed in the NRC Public Document Room and will receive limited

distribution.
This letter and the remainder of the inspection report will be
placed in the Public Document Room in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a).
