Subject: Combined Inspection Report Nos.~50-334/88-22 and 50-412/88-16
This refers to the routine resident safety inspection by Messrs. J. Beall and
S. Pindale at the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, Pennsylvania.
The reporting period covers the time from June 1 - July 15,1988. The inspec-
tion consisted of document reviews, interviews and observation of activities.
The findings were summarized and discussed with you and other members your
staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Based on the results of this inspection, it appears that activities associated
with cable routing and separation were not conducted in compliance with NRC
requirements. Please respond to these matters in accordance with the enclosed
Appendix A.
A licensee identified violation involving the failure to verify
diesel generator operability is discussed in the enclosed report details.
Please also describe the results of your evaluation of this event including
root cause(s) and final corrective actions in your written response to this
letter.
The responses directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not
subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as
required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
