USE OF SEISMIC EXPERIENCE DATA FOR FUTURE REPLACEMENT COMPONENTS In GPU Nuclear Corporation's (GPUN) letter of March 29, 1988, regarding the
'above subject, GPUN notified NRC of GPUN's plans to utilize seismic adequacy experience data, as an acceptable alternative to existing analytical or test rethodologies, to denonstrate seismic adequacy of future replacenent components and sub-corponents contained within the "Class of 20" equipment listed in Table 3-1 of the Seismic Qualification Utility Group (SQUG) Generic Inplenentation Procedure (GIP) for Seismic Verification of Nuclear Plant Equiprent,datedCecember4,1987(Draft).
It should be noted that the current Generic In:plenentation Procedures are presently in draft forn and a staff Safety Evaluation has not been issued regarding this matter. Therefore, GPUN can use this infortnation subject to the requirerents that may te specified in our final Safety Evaluation.
Regarding the future notification of the use cf seismic experience data for future replacenent coc'ponents, it should be noted that the staff requires 'that all present reporting requirenents still apply.
