Lightsource Cell Assembly DESCRIPTION:
The sealed tritium light is constructed of borosilicate glass capsule that is internally coated with a phosphor and filled with tritium gas under a pressure of 40 psi. To provide high resistance to breakage every light is embedded into 0.050 inch silicone and sealed inside a steel cell that is then arvembled into the optical collimator or tank muzzle reference systems (MRS). The firs is then mounted to the tank. Different style tanks require different optical collimator and attachment hardware. General Dynamics assigns a unique MRS part number to each unique system. However, they all use the same source cell.
LABELING:
Due to location of the source cell labeling of the cell is impractical.
However, the complete MRS is labeled in accordance with Part 20.203 and contractual requirements of Department of Defense (D00).
DIAGRAM:
See Attachments 1.
CONDITIONS OF NORMAL USE:
The muzzle reference sensor system is used by military tank operations personnel to determine the position of the gun.

, PROTOTYPE TESTING:
Each source is leak tested, visually inspected for compliance with design specification and brightness. The completed MRS has been tested to military specification to determine the unit will operate under temperature and other environmental or operational conditions which are associated with their use.
e EXTERNAL RADIATION LEVELS:
The manufacturer reports no detectable radiation levels on any accessible surface of the MRS or the light cell.
QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL:
All components are built to contractual specification. General Dynamics inspects all incoming parts for compliance to design specifications and functionally tested before they are sent to D0D. The 000 will not accept any MRS that'does not meet the contractual agreement.
1 LIMITATIONS AND/OR OTHER CONSIDERATIONS OF USE:
o The light cell assemblies contained the muzzle reference system shall be distributed only to the specific licensee referenced in this docum 1t (000).
o Handling, storage, use,. transfer and disposal to be determined by the licensing authority, o
This registration sheet and the information contained within the references shall not be changed without the written consent of the NRC.

Lightsource Cell Assembly SAFETY ANALYSIS.
SUMMARY
Based on our review of the information and data cited below, that the light cell was previously deemed acceptable for licensing purposes, and that modification to the MRS mounting hardware do not effect the integrity of the light cell assembly, we continue to conclude that the device design is acceptable for licensing purposes. This registration sheet was formulated to incorporate the MRS into the automated registry system.
REFERENCES:
The following supporting documents for the light source cell assembly are hereby incorporated by reference and are made a part of this registry document:
