Dear Mr. Alden:
SUBJECT:
REQUEST FOR HOURLY METEOROLOGICAL DATA TAPE AND UPDATED EVACUATION TIME ESTIMATES (TAC N0. 66783)
As you are aware, the Peach Bottom Atonic Power Station, Units 2 and 3 (PRAPS) is one of a set of cornercial nuclear power plants currently under consideration with respect to severe accident risks as discursed in the draft NUREG-1150 report.
Your assistance to the NRC staff would be very useful in the staff's ongoing activities in this area.
Specifically, we request that an annual hourly meteorological data tape of PBAPS onsite observations be provided and that the most recent study containing Evacuation Time Estimates for the area around the site be provided.
Tile meteorological data should be in accordance with SRP Section ?,1.3 and its Appendix A (NUREG-0800, Revision 2, July 1981). The data desired consist of wind speed and direction along with a stability distribution using vertical temperature difference between two levels as used to characterize effluent i
dispersion modeling and onsite hourly precipitation measurements. The data tape should have the characteristics given in SRP Section 2.3.3 Appendix A.
]
It would greatly assist the staff's efforts if one copy of this infomation could be provided by the end of February 1988.
Sincerely, pft
/s/
