OPERATIONS SlM1ARY MARCH, 1986 The unit entered March operating at 100% power.

Operation continued at 100%

power until March 15,1986 at 1000 hours0.0116 days <br />0.278 hours <br />0.00165 weeks <br />3.805e-4 months <br /> when an unplanned reactor trip occurred. The plant was stabilized at hot shutdown with no major complications.

Post trip review of the events determined the reactor trip was caused by a turbine trip as a result of low turbine lube oil pressure.

Following proper approvals, the unit started up at 1800 hours0.0208 days <br />0.5 hours <br />0.00298 weeks <br />6.849e-4 months <br /> on March 15, 1986.

Power escalation continued and on March 17, 1986 the unit achieved 100%

power.

100% power operation continued until March 21, 1986 when the unit was shutdown in a controlled manner to support the planned Eddy Current Testing Outage. The plant proceeded to cold shutdown and remained on decay heat removal cooling the remainder of the month. The Eddy Current Testing Outage was in progress as this reporting period ended.

MAJOR SAFETY RELATED MAINTENANCE During the first part of March (prior to the start of the Eddy Current Outage), no major maintenance of safety related equipment was performed.

As of part of the Eddy Current Outage, the following items are being performed:

Once Through Steam Generators Work accomplished included draining the OTSGs, removing the upper manways/handholes and performing bubble tests, removing the lower manways and performing drip tests. There was no indication of leakage during these inspections.

Tube plug photographs of both upper and lower tube sheets were taken for plug location verification.

No missing plugs were identified.

Eddy Current equipment and templates were installed and testing is in progress.

Local Leak Rate Testing (UR,),

The local leak rate testing piigram commenced in March with the following valves being tested:

M0 VATS Valve Testing Motor Operated Valve Analysis and Testing began during March. Valves EF-V-1 A/B were tested. The MOVATS testing program will continue in April.

RC-RY-2 Inspection & Replacement (PORV)

The Pressurizer Pilot Operated Relief Valve (PORV) RC-RV-2 was removed and replaced with a rebuilt and tested valve.

The removed valve was disassembled and inspected for sulfur. All inspections were satisfactory with no evidence of sulfur. The valve was reassembled and shipped to a vendor for overhaul and testi ng.

Code Safety Valve RC-RY-1B The Pressurizer Code Safety Valve RC-RV-1B was renoved from the pressurizer and a tested spare installed.

The renoved valve was inspected for evidence of sulfur. The inspection was satisfactory with no sulfur found.

The valve was then shipped to a vendor for overhaul and testing.

Station Battery Replacement During March, the Station Battery Replacenent for the "A" bank began. The old l

battery cells were removed and replaced with new. Work is expected to l

complete in April, i
