RELIEF REQUEST #2 PUMP:, Residual Heat Removal Pumps 1A and 1B TEST REQUIREMENTS: IWP testing every 3 months.

BASIS FOR REl.IEF: To obtain a flow point of other than minimum flow requires l

~

operating the pump in recirculation to the refueling water i

storage tank. This i: accomplished by closing one of the cross-tie valves, IND32A or IN065B and opening manual valve

~

1NO33 leading back to the refueling water storage tank.

Basedon Design Engineering and Westinghouse evaluation, both cross-tie valves must remain open for a train of ND to be considered operable to perform its ECCS function. It must be able to discharge into all four cold leg) injection lines (cross-tie must be open between two trains.

Technical Specification 3/4.5.2 requires both trains operable in Modes 1-3 and 3/4.5.3 requires one operable in Mode 4.

ALTERNATE TESTING: Perform IWP testing on these pumps during cold shutdown.
