Dear Mr. Denton:

Enclosed is a tabular listing of changes requested in my letters of March _15, 1985, August 7, 1985, October 30, 1985, November 7, 1985 and December 17, 1985 concerning the proposed Catawba Units 1 and 2 Technical Specifications. The changes listed are those that will affect the Unit 1 license. It is requested that these changes be incorporated as an amendment to the Technical Specifications for Facility Operating License No. NPF-35.

' It is recognized that some of the proposed changes will not be incorporated into the combined Technical Specifications due to schedular constraints. Changes which are to be deferred will be pursued after the issuance of the Operating License for Catawba Unit 2. Be advised that the deferred changes are viewed as improvements over the current Specifications but do not reflect correction of any errors contained in the Unit 1 Specifications.

It is Duke's understanding that corrections to the errors that have been identified (e.g. the typographical error identified on page 3/4 3-40, item 13, where "N.A." is not appropriately placed) will be incorporated into the combined Technical Specifications.

This request involves an amendment request to Catawba's Technical Specifications. Accordingly, pursuant to 10 CFR 170.21 a check for
