SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT OF THE FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT i
COMPANY PROPOSED ALTERNATIVE TO THE ASME CODE FOR REPAIR OF THE REFUELING WATER TANK BOTTOM AT ST. LUCIE UNIT NO. 1.
i By letter dated November 16, 1994, Florida Power & Light Co., the licensee, proposed an alternative to the ASME Code for the repair of the St. Lucie Unit No. I refueling water tank bottom. The existing tank bottom was leaking, and an in kind replacement could not be accomplished during the ongoing refueling outage.
Instead, the licensee proposed that a fiberglass reinforced vinyl ester bottom be laid over the existing aluminum tank bottom.

As detailed in the attached safety evaluation, the staff has found the proposed alternative to the ASME Code to be acceptable. Our evaluation is submitted as Attachment 1.
Our SALP input is submitted as Attachment 2.
We consider our efforts on this TAC to be complete.
