McGUIRE - UNITS 1 and 2 3/4 5-1 Amendment No.. (Unit 1)

Amendment No." (Unit 2)

Analysis of Significant Hazards Consideration As required by 10.CFR 50.91, this analysis is provided concerning whether the proposed changes to the technical specification involve significant hazards i

considerations, as oefined by 10 CFR 50.92.

The probability of an accident previously evaluated is unaffected by the proposed change because the change simply makes the af fectedTechnical Specification conform to the analysis assumption. Likewise, the consequences of an accident previously evaluated are not increased because all applicable acceptance criteria remain satisfied.

The proposed change does not create the possibility of a new or different kind of accident from any previously analyzed. The sole purpose of the change is to make Technical Specifications consistent with the Safety Analysis.

Finally, the proposed amendments do not involve a significant reduction in a margin of safety. The purpose of the change is to make Technical Specifications consistent with the Safety Analysis. The results.of the Safety Analysis are still within_the applicable acceptance criteria, i

In summation, it has been determined that the proposed deletion of the UH1 system would not:

1.

Involve a significant increase in the probability or consequences of an accident previously evaluated; or l

2.

Create the possibility of a new or different kind of accident from any accident previously evaluated; or 3.

Involve a significant reduction in a margin of safety.

Based upon the preceding analysis, Duke Power Company concludes that the proposed amendments do not involve a significant hazards consideration.
