PROGRESS REPORT Off 10 CFR PART 35 i

This is in reponse to your nenorandun of December 20, 1983 that asked for a nonthly progress report on 10 CFR Part 35.

l The package was distributed on February 13, 1984 with connents due March 30, 1984; at that time the project was two weeks ahead of schedule. Three things have happened that have had a strong adverse impact on our ability to neat the currently approved schedule:

1. Two lead flRC offices still have not subattted their connents;

2. t!any of the Agreenent States have subnitted both broad coments on policy and lengthy , detailed, technical suggestions. Therefore, the connent resolution phase is taking more calendar days and staff time than expected.

3. John Klucsik, ELD contact, has resigned. It Ewill take sometine for an ELD replacement to be brought up to speed.

Despite this problen, we are still planning on neeting the currently approved schedule. j
