Dear Mr. Johnson:
We recently completed an order for the Argentine Government for the conversion of UFe to U 0s.
Following completion of this job and 3
collection and purification of the residues, it was determined that we had remaining at the Hemtite Plant 1168 grams of contained U with' an assay of 19.71%. This material was originally allocated to the Division of International Affairs.
This letter is a formal request for an allocation to cover this amount of material which we propose to use in our plant for research arri development purposes or to transfer to others who have allocations for such material for similar purposes.
Since the material is now being leased by Mallinckrodt, we are request-ing early action on this request to determine whether or not we may retain the mterial at the Hemtite Plant or have to return it to the AEC for cancellation of lease charges. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call us collect.
