SUBJECT:
CATEGORICAL EXCLUSION FOR AMENDMENT REQUEST DATED JUNE 26, 1985 By letter dated June 26, 1985, Exxon Nuclear Company, Inc., requested an amendment to License No. SNM-1227 to provide an exemption from 10 CFR 70.24(a) for the purpose of performing preventive maintenance on their criticality alarm. During the maintenance periods, there will be Health Physics personnel onsite who will perform area surveys and the plant areas affected will be shutdown, as far as operations with special nuclear material is concerned, with the special nuclear material being stored in safe configurations. Witn these precautions, there is no increase in the potential for or consequences from radiological accidents, nor will the public health and safety be endangered. Accordingly,.the staff has concluded that the following conditions have been met:
1.
There is no significant increase in the type or significant increase in the amount of any effluents that may be released offsite, 2.
There is no significant increase in individual or cumula'tive occupational radiation exposure, 3.
There is no significant construction impact, and 4.
There is no significant increase in the potential for or consequences from radiological accidents.
Therefore, in accordance with 10 CFR 51.22(c)(11), neither an Environmental Assessment nor an Environmental Impact Statement is warranted for this proposed action.
