VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNIT NOS.1 AND 2 SAFETY EVALUATION OF NORTH ANNA VITAL EQUIPMENT TAC NO. M77946 Virginia Electric and Power Company submitted information to the NRC by Istters dated December 6,1991, and March 27,1992, to address the concerns of Finding MS-1 of the North Anna Unit 2 Safety System Outage Modification inspection (SSOMI) Report.
The NRC advised us by letter dated January 9,1902, that proposed modifications to the facility would be acceptaote and the concerns of Finding MS-1 would be considered closed upon receipt of reasonable dates for initiation and completion of the modifications described in our Decomber 6,1991 letter. Our letter to the NRC, dated March 27,1992, indicated that engineering for the modifications identified in our December 6, 1991 letter would commence in January 1993 with completion scheduled for-July 1995. We also committed to advise the NRC promptly of any conditions which would require us to alter that schedule.
Although substantial security enhancements have been accomplished, resource constraints have required an extension of the modifications for one-year.
The final completion date for the modifications discussed in our Decembe.- 6, 1991 letter has been rescheduled for July 1996.
The compensatory measures oiscussed in our December 14,1992 letter to the NRC (Revision 28 to the North Anna Physical Security Plan) will continae until the appropriate-upgrades are implemented. If you have any questions, please contact us.
