Dear Mr. Richard:
Subject:
Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) Units 1 and 2 Safety Evaluation Regarding Soil Structure Interaction for the Standby Service Water Cooling Tower Basin By letter dated January 28, 1985, Mississippi Power and Light Ccepany (MP&L) provided infonnation on the seismic analysis perfonned for the deeply embedded standby service water cooling tower basin (SSWCTB) for the GGNS.
The NRC staff has reviewed the January 28, 1985 submittal.
In addition, staff met with MP&L on April 29, 1985 to hear and discuss seismic analysis of the SSWCTB. The staff's safety evaluation is enclosed. The staff concludes that the seismic analysis of the SSWCTB complies with Standard Review Plan Section 3.7.2 and is, therefore, acceptable.
Sincerely, bi in Thomas M. Novak, Assistant Director for Licensing Division of Licensing
