POSSIBLE MATERIAL DEFECTS, ITEM 205
Dear Dr. Grace:
On January 29, 1985, Mr. N. J. Chiangi notified the NRC (Mr. A. Hardin) of a potentially reportable item per the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e) and 10CFR, Part 21.
The NRC was informed that Parker Hannifin instrumentation fittings were supplied by Cross Process Instrumentation Company with possible material defects.
The majority of the 563 fittings which were identified as potentially defective have been returned to Parker Hannifin'by CP&L.
Information received from Parker Hannifin states that of those fittings returned, a 100% inspection was performed and no defects were found.
Efforts are underway at this time to locate and return the remaining fittings.
CP&L's final evaluation of this matter is pending the return of the remaining fittings to Parker Hannifin and receipt of their test results.
It is currently projected that we will require until May 30, 1985 to report on the reportability of this item.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Yours very truly,
