Dear Mr.'Denton:

A.:tached are proposed license amendments to Facility Operating Licenses NPF-9 and NPF-17 for McGuire Nuclear Station Units 1 and.2, respectively. The proposed changes seek to delete surveillance requirement 4.5.1.1.1.d for the Cold Leg.

4 Accumulator Isolation Valve's automatic actuation. The automatic actuation feature has been made obsolete by the Duke Power-Company procedure for operation and it no longer fulfills any safety function.. The testing requirement for the automatic

actuation feature for the. cold leg ac~cumulator isolation. valve is thus no longer-

.necessary.

Attachment;I contains the proposed Technical Specification. changes. Attachment II provides the Justification and Safety Analysis in support of'the proposed changes.

- Attachment III provides an analysis performed in accordance with the standards contained in 10CFR 50.92 as required by 10CFR50.91.~ These analyses conclude that the proposed changes-do not have any adverse safety or environmental impact.

This request involves on application for amendment to the McGuire Technical Specifications. Accordingly, pursuant to 10CFR170.21 a check for $150.00 is.
